ClearCart Privacy Policy

ClearCart is built to be private by design.

What we collect

Nothing. ClearCart collects no personal data, no browsing history, no search queries, no analytics, and no telemetry of any kind.

What happens on your device

All filtering logic runs entirely inside your browser. The brand lists and language model used for scoring are bundled with the extension. Your settings, filter statistics, and diagnostic results are stored locally via chrome.storage.local and never leave your device.

Network requests

ClearCart makes zero network requests, with one exception: if you purchase ClearCart Pro, the ExtensionPay library contacts extensionpay.com to process the subscription payment (via Stripe) and verify your license. ClearCart itself never sees, transmits, or stores your payment details or any personal information. ExtensionPay's own privacy policy is available at extensionpay.com/privacy.

The optional price-history feature stores the prices of products you view on Amazon on your own device (chrome.storage.local), so ClearCart can tell you when you last saw a lower price. This data never leaves your browser, is never transmitted anywhere, and can be erased at any time with the "Clear price history" button in the popup (it is also deleted if you uninstall the extension).

When you uninstall ClearCart, your browser opens one page on our own site (clearcart.org/goodbye) so you can tell us why. The address carries no query parameters or identifiers, and the page has no analytics, no tracking, and no cookies. Nothing is sent until you press one of its buttons; if you do, we receive only the reason you picked, anything you typed, and an email address if you chose to give one. Your IP address is used momentarily to rate-limit spam and is never stored or passed on. So we can see which problems are getting more common, we keep a running count of the reasons — the reason chosen, the date, and whether a note was attached. The note text, the email address and the IP are never kept, and nothing links two reports to the same person.

The optional "Compare price" button on product pages is an ordinary hyperlink: if you click it, your browser opens a Google Shopping search for that product (brand + short title) in a new tab, exactly as if you had typed the search yourself. ClearCart sends nothing in the background, and nothing happens unless you click. The button can be turned off in the popup.

What we can see about you

Nothing. There is no server, no account system, and no way for us to identify who uses ClearCart or what they search for.

Changes

Any change to this policy will be published with an extension update and noted in the changelog. The "no data collection" principle is a permanent design invariant of this project.
